- Jay Johnstone split time with Jerry Martin in right field for the Philadelphia Phillies for the first part of the 1977 season. After Bake McBride was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals Jay's playing time decreased. Johnstone started 72 games in RF and another 17 at first base.
