- Leo Foster split time between the Mets and AAA Tidewater in 1977. He was with the Mets in late April and for most of May before being sent down on May 22 for a few months. Leo came back to the Mets on August 14 and played for them for the remainder of the season. This was Foster's final season in the majors.
- Foster made the news in early April when his errant throw during infield practice hit a photographer in the head. The photographer was hospitalized.

- Aug 23 - Scored the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning as Len Randle singled through a drawn in infield. The Mets beat the Houston Astros 2-1.
