- Ron Blomberg spent the entire 1977 season on the disabled list. He crashed into a wall in late March and had knee surgery in April. This was after playing in only one game in 1976 due to a shoulder injury. Even with the injuries Blomberg was voted a full world series share in both 1976 and 1977.
- After the 1977 season Ron became a free agent and signed with the Chicago White Sox. Ron played in 61 games in 1978 but batted only .231 with 5 HR. He was released during spring training in 1979. The White Sox ended up eating three years of a four-year $600,000 contract.
