- This was the first of 12 straight All Star seasons for Dave Winfield. Winfield doubled and had a 2-run single in the NL's 7-5 win.
- After the 1977 season Dave came close to being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. That would have been nasty, as the Dodgers also would have gotten Rollie Fingers in exchange for Steve Yeager, Lee Lacy, and Rick Rhoden. Close call.
