- Bobby Valentine had his toughest season in 1977. He was a part-time player with the San Diego Padres at the beginning of the season. On June 15 Valentine was traded (with Paul Siebert) to the New York Mets for Dave Kingman. Bobby spent the remainder of the 1977 season as a backup infielder for the Mets. Valentine ended up batting .153 for the season.
