- The 1977 season was Fred Kendall's final season as a full-time player. The San Diego Padres traded Kendall and two other players for George Hendrick after the 1976 season.
- 1977 Stats: .249, 3 HR, 49 RBI in 103 games
- 1977 Highlights:
- April 30 - Hit a sacrifice fly in the 12th inning to knock in the only run of the game as the Indians beat the Milwaukee Brewers 1-0. It was a nationally televised game - the original Game of the Week was probably rained out and this was the backup game.
- May 4 - Scored the winning run in Cleveland's 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Fred Kendall is an Original Padre, taken from the Reds in the '68 Expansion Draft. His son Jason also became a pretty decent major league catcher. I have this card along with the '77 Topps Padres team set, and never noticed the glasses that Kendall is rocking in this shot. Go Padres!
