- Rick Dempsey's 1977 season was marred by a broken bone in his hand that he suffered on July 8 (he was hit by a pitch from Don Gullett). When Rick was ready to come back in mid-August, the Orioles placed Brooks Robinson on the voluntary retired list to make room.

- Sept 28 - Entered the game in the 10th inning and singled in the winning run in the 11th as Baltimore beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2.
