- This was the second of three good seasons Ed Figueroa had with the New York Yankees. He struggled in the postseason, but he was a valuable part of the rotation from 1976-1978.

- Regular season: 16-11, 3.57 ERA in 32 starts
- AL Championship Series: 0-0, 10.80 ERA in 1 start
- World Series: did not pitch (Ed had nerve damage in a finger, but he was still irked that he didn't get to pitch in the series. There were reports that he had jumped the team, but those reports were unfounded.)
- 1977 Highlights:
- July 30 - Pitched a complete game 9-2 victory over Vida Blue and the Oakland A's.
- Sept 14 - Shut out the Boston Red Sox 2-0 to improve his record to 15-9.
