- After the 1976 season Tito Fuentes became a free agent. He signed with the Detroit Tigers on February 23, 1977.
- Fuentes had a good year for the Tigers in 1977, but the Tigers had Lou Whitaker ready to take over the 2B position. Tito was sold to the Montreal Expos in January 1978.
