- Bill Campbell was one of baseball's first big free agent signings. Campbell paid dividends in his first season and led the AL with 31 saves.
- Bill was an AL All Star and pitched a scoreless 7th inning in the All Star Game. Campbell finished fifth in AL Cy Young Award voting and tenth in MVP voting.
