- The 1977 season was the last one in which Thurman Munson would be in double figures in home runs. Munson had good batting averages in the last two seasons of his shortened career, but he didn't hit for as much power. Munson played in 140 or more games in seven straight seasons (1972-1978).

- July 8 - Had a 2-run homer and a 2-run single as the Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-5.
- Sept 28 - Homered and got two additional hits to help the Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 10-0. The win clinched a tie for the AL East title for the Yankees.
