- Hal McRae had a nice year as the Royals' DH in 1977. He led the AL in games played (162), doubles (54), and hit by pitch (13). McRae also had career highs in home runs and RBI.

- April 23 - Had three hits and three RBI in Kansas City's 8-6 win over the Seattle Mariners.
- July 31 - Went 3 for 5 with a home run and 4 RBI to help the Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 8-4.
- Aug 26 - Made a rare appearance in left field and threw out Mark Belanger as he tried to score on a liner. The Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2. Hal also hit a solo home run.
