- Lou Brock started to slow down in 1977. He stole 35 bases, his lowest total since 1963. Lou was caught stealing 24 times, leading the National League.
- After Frank Robinson was fired from his post as the manager of the Cleveland Indians, Brock said that he had no interest in ever becoming a manager. He said it would be too difficult to please everyone.

- May 30 - Went 4 for 5 with 4 RBI in the Cardinals' 14-0 rout of the Chicago Cubs.
- Aug 23 - Singled in the eventual winning run in the second inning as the Cardinals beat the LA Dodgers 2-1. The single was his 2800th career hit.
- Aug 29 - Stole his 892nd and 893rd bases, breaking the all-time record that was held by Ty Cobb. The Cardinals lost to the San Diego Padres 4-3.
