- After the 1976 season Larry Dierker was traded (with Jerry DaVanon) to the St. Louis Cardinals for Joe Ferguson and Bob Detherage.
- Dierker didn't pitch for the Cardinals until late May due to a broken fibula suffered in spring training. Larry then was out from mid-July until October 1 with a shoulder injury.
- Larry was released during spring training in 1978 and at the age of 31 that was it for his career.
