.- This was Brent Strom's last year in the major leagues. Strom had a rough start to the 1977 season and was sent to AAA Hawaii in mid-May. He made six starts in Hawaii and pitched well, but he had to have arm surgery at the end of June and missed the rest of the season. Strom was waived by the Padres during spring training in 1978.
- Strom pitched in the minors from 1979-1981 in a comeback bid, but he never got back to the majors.
