- Judging from the stats on the back of this card, it would have been hard to imagine that Marc Hill would have a 14-year career in the majors. Hill started most of the Giants' games behind the plate in 1977.

- May 6 - Hit a 3-run homer to help the Giants to a 5-3 win over the New York Mets.
- July 11 - Drove in two runs to help the Giants to a 5-1 win over the San Diego Padres.
- Aug 18 - Broke up a no-hit bid by Don Sutton with a single in the 8th inning. It was the only hit in the game for the Giants. It was Sutton's fifth career one-hitter.

- Pitcher Danny Frisella was killed in a dune buggy accident near Phoenix, AZ. Frisella's death was hard on fellow pitcher Ray Sadecki, who was a teammate of Danny both with the New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers.
