- After a good 1976 season, Bill Travers had a rough time in 1977. Bill was injured and missed all of June and most of July.
- 1977 Stats: 4-12, 5.25 ERA in 19 starts
- 1977 Highlights:
- Apr 17 - Allowed 7 hits and shut out the New York Yankees 2-0.
- May 29 - Had an arm injury that caused him to most of the next two months of the season.
- Aug 14 - Bill "took one for the team" as he threw 155 pitches in a blowout game. Travers pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed 14 earned runs. It was the beginning of a losing streak for Bill -- he was 4-5 before this game and ended the season with a 4-12 record.
- Dec 20 - Agreed to have surgery on his pitching arm.
