- Ron Fairly's first Topps card was in 1959. His last Topps card was in 1979. He came very close to being a "four decade" baseball card guy.
- Ron played for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1977. He was traded from the Oakland A's for a minor leaguer and $30,000.
- Fairly was the Blue Jays' representative to the 1977 All Star Game. He batted .346 in May and .341 in June before tailing off to finish at .279.

- 1977 Highlights:
- May 4 - Had three hits and two RBI in Toronto's 10-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers
- June 27 - Hit a 2-run homer in the 6th inning to break a tie and the Blue Jays went on to beat the New York Yankees 7-6.
- July 19 - Was struck out by Tom Seaver in his at bat in the All Star Game.

1977 Topps Baseball #127 - Ron Fairly

Fairly wasn't acquired by the A's until very late in the 1976 season. Does this card feature a very elaborate airbrush job, or did Topps somehow manage to get a picture of Fairly in an A's uniform during the very short period he was there? I guess the latter is plausible, as they apparently had a photographer based in the Bay Area.
