- Jim Mason was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1976 expansion draft. Mason didn't hit well and was a backup shortstop for the Blue Jays. On May 9 Jim was traded (with Steve Hargan and $200,000) to the Texas Rangers for Roy Howell. Mason hit a little better for the Rangers, but he still finished the 1977 season below the Mendoza line.

- June 17 - Knocked in three runs in Texas' 8-6 win over the Seattle Mariners.
- Aug 24 - Went 2 for 4 with a home run to help the Rangers beat the Boston Red Sox 6-3. Mason's homer put the Rangers ahead 4-3 and proved to be the game winner.

Loved this card as a kid. Was devastated when I found out he used to be a Yankee.
