- Leroy Stanton was chosen in the 1976 expansion draft and moved on to the Seattle Mariners after five seasons with the California Angels. Stanton had a good year for the Mariners and led the club in home runs and RBI.

- April 17 - Broke out of a 1 for 21 slump by hitting a 2-run homer against his former team. The Mariners beat the California Angels 11-7.
- July 14 - Grounded into a 5-4-3 triple play against the Angels. Stanton went 2 for 4 with two doubles and a run scored in the game and the Mariners won 4-1.
- July 31 - Hit a 2-run homer and was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI ast he Mariners beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-1.
