- Woodie Fryman came over to the Cincinnati Reds in the Tony Perez deal before the 1977 season
- 1977 Stats:
- 5-5, 5.38 ERA in 17 games (12 starts)
- 1977 Highlights:
- April 6 - Was the opening day starter for the Reds and earned the win.
- April 29 - Pitched 8 2/3 innings and earned the win as the Reds beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2.
- In mid-May he was removed from the rotation. At the time Woodie was 2-3 with a 6.31 ERA in seven starts.
- June 3 - Was quoted as saying he would rather be traded than remain idle in the Reds' bullpen.
- July 12 - Retired from baseball and went back to his farm. He was on a three-game winning streak at the time of his retirement. Woodie would change his mind the next season and was traded to the Chicago Cubs. He ended up pitching until 1983.
- Woodie passed away on 4 February 2011 at the age of 70.

- It is interesting that his 1976 (shown below) and 1977 cards were so similar. It doesn't look like the same picture, but they are very similar poses

Crazy on the similarities of the '76 and '77 cards. I've always loathed the pose especially when it is obvious they don't have a ball in their hand.
