- Lynn McGlothen was not a St. Louis Cardinal when the 1977 season started. During the winter meetings the Cardinals traded Lynn to the San Francisco Giants for Ken Reitz. McGlothen had shoulder problems during the entire 1977 season.

- 2-9, 5.63 ERA in 21 games (15 starts)
- 1977 Highlights:
- May 6 - Earned his first victory of the year as he pitched a complete game win over the New York Mets. The Giants won the game 5-2.
- May 12 - Pitched his second straight complete game victory. Lynn allowed two runs as the Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2. Unfortunately, it would be his last win of the season.
- June 22 - Placed on the 21-day disabled list because of a shoulder injury.

I never liked the pillbox cap with stripes for the Cards. That STL logo just looks too busy with the stripes.
