- The Texas Rangers picked up Ken Henderson in the big Jeff Burroughs trade after the 1976 season. Henderson started most of the games in right field until early May. He missed a few weeks with an injury and then was limited to pinch hitting until mid June. Ken also missed about five weeks from late July to early September.

- March 27 - Had to be restrained by teammates from going after Lenny Randle after Randle decked manager Frank Lucchesi.
- May 3 - Knocked in four runs with a home run and a double as the Rangers hammered the Detroit Tigers 13-0.
- June 24 - Hit a home run in the 10th inning off of Frank Tanana to lead the Rangers to a 1-0 win over the California Angels.
