- This is Mike Marshall's last Topps card. After the 1977 season he no longer allowed Topps to produce cards of him.
- This was a busy year for Marshall. He quit the team in early April in order to concentrate on a legal battle he was having with Michigan State University. He came back to the team and pitched in four games for the Braves before being sold to the Texas Rangers on May 2. Mike had been placed on the disqualified list by the Braves on April 24. He stormed off of the mound on April 22 after being taken out of the game.
- Mike wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to report to the Rangers due in part to the distance from his Michigan home. Marshall made his first appearance for the Rangers on May 14 and pitched for the team for about six weeks. Mike tore ligaments in his knee while fielding a ground ball on June 27 and didn't pitch for the rest of the season.
